Actor Amit Dolawat, we can say, has managed to create history of sorts by getting back to the popular show of Director’s Kut, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus after six long years of its run!!

    Yes, this is true!!

For the uninitiated, Amit played the role of Alok Awasthi, the first boy in Akshara’s (Hina Khan) life years back. And now the character will return to add some spice and twist in the storyline.

Alok was the silent and cute lover of Akshara in college. The man had left the city and college with a promise that he would never get back to the city and into Akshara’s life after her father had seen them together and she had got to face a tough time at home.

However, fate and destiny will now bring them face to face!! Alok Awasthi will get back in Akshara’s life via a business development with Naitik (Karan Mehra). Keeping in trend with the Yeh Rishta cast, where none of the characters are negative, Alok too will not have negative shades. However, there will be a surprise in store for the viewers.

We hear that the production house had earlier attempted to bring back the character twice, but it had not worked out then.

Says Amit, “It is a great feeling to be back with Star Plus. The last stint was that of the psychotic lover in Sasural Genda Phool. And now to make a comeback in Yeh Rishta after six years and more than 1500 episodes, is something spectacular.”

Amit Dolawat adds, “The best part about this role is that there is a lot of scope for performance and emotions. I am happy to be back with Rajan Sir (Shahi) who as a director has directed me in two of my milestone shows, Millee and Betiyaan. Well, I also want to find out if I am eligible for an entry in Guinness Book of World Records, because I don’t know if any character has ever come back in a show after six years of running and to be precise, 1580 episodes (smiles).”

Amit’s comeback sequence aired on 17 November.
