Default Bad is back with Prince

The 80s saw an interesting line-up of Bollywood villains, however the 90s killed them off when the hero turned into the anti-hero.

But with Prince, the extreme action thriller from Tips Films, producer Kumar Taurani has brought back the quintessential villain. Pitted against the suave and stylish thief, Prince, played by Vivek Oberoi, is a brand new villain, Saarang, played by newcomer Isaiah. And so begins the game to outwit each other for the all important coin! “The characterisation of the villain was extremely crucial for the movie. Prince is a smart thief, and we needed an equally strong character to stand up against him. Saarang is a typical white collar criminal, with the charm and poise alike the various popular villains we have seen in Indian cinema. It was challenging to create such a powerful character, for we had to pay attention to every little detail, his mannerisms, his body language,” said director Kookie V Gulati. From the beginning Kookie was keen to cast a rank newcomer. And he seems to have hit the bull’s eye with Isaiah. Kumar Taurani said, “The Indian audience is deprived of the charisma of popular villains who had become folklore over a period of time. I wanted to bring back the magic.”
