After the release of 'Zenda' (flag) was deferred following objections raised by his son, Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane will decide the fate of much-awaited Marathi movie depicting the rivalry between Shiv Sena executive chief Uddhav Thackeray and his estranged cousin Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray.

The movie was earlier slated for release on January eight, but was postponed after the Swabhiman outfit, led by Nitesh Rane, objected to depiction of a negative character in the film bearing keen resemblance to his father Narayan Rane.

According to sources, 'Zenda' director Avdhoot Gupte has sent a DVD of the movie to Mr Rane, who is currently in Kankavli. He will see the movie and decide its fate. The decision may come as early as this evening.

The movie depicts the conflict in the minds of activists following divide in a political family. It traces the journey of a family similar to the Thackerays and has characters like Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, his son Uddhav Thackeray and his estranged nephew Raj Thackeray. Both the Sena and MNS had already given a go-ahead for the release of the film, but it was delayed following the objection by Swabhiman.

Meanhwile, another Marathi movie, 'Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho', is also facing controversy over its name. The Akhil Bharatiya Maratha Mahasangh has objected to the name of the movie saying that it is an insult to 'mother'.

''We will not allow the release of the movie unless and until its name is changed. If it is released, our activists will tear the screens in cinema halls screening the movie,'' Mahasangh president Shashikant Pawar warned in a news conference here yesterday.

However, the film's director-producer Mahesh Manjrekar has refused to change the name.

''Promos of the movie are out, theatres have been booked.

Now it is not possible to change the name and stop the release,'' Manjrekar said, while clarifying his stand about the movie's release on January 15.

Meanwhile, the state government has offered necessary co-operation required for release of the movie.

Activists of Maratha Mahasangh will meet the Censor Board representatives later today and make a request to change the name of the movie.
