Industrial package to Himachal extended upto 2013
Union Ministry of Commerce has recommended the extension of industrial package to Himachal Pradesh upto 2013, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said here after meeting Minister Anand Sharma.
Mr Dhumal told Mr Sharma there was no flight of industries from his state to neighbouring states, and as result of industrial package infact the reputed industrial houses from Karnataka, Gujrat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh were setting up additional new units in the state.
He said the Centre had sanctioned the industrial package to the Himachal, Uttranchal and Jammu and Kashmir to attract investments in these states keeping in view the tough geographical conditions and industrial backwardness of these regions. The step had left positive impact on the industrial development of the state, and it needs to be carried out further by extending it.
Mr Dhumal also said there was no justification of curtailing the package time limit for his state and Uttarakhand while continuing the same for the state of Jammu and Kashmir as entire region faces same economic, geographical and topographical conditions.
The Chief Minister said the Union Ministry would set up skill development centres at Solan and Una districts to train the local youths for sharpening their talents and skills to enable them to get jobs in private sector and multinational companies and create self-employement avenues in the region.
He also said the Ministry will take proactive role in attracting investment in food and fruit processing and IT sectors.
