Formula One teams have abandoned the plan to launch their 2010 cars at the same time in Spain in January. One of the F1 teams said on Wednesday, "It's been abandoned,"

"There were not going to be enough cars ready by the date that would have suited all the teams."

The 13 teams had planned a joint presentation of their new cars in Valencia at January end instead of the individual launches as done in the previous years.

Mercedes chief executive Nick Fry suggested the joint launch to be made public rather than exclusively for the media and sponsors.

He had said,"I think it is another clear demonstration of how we are working together, we're not all just going off and doing our own individual launches. We can do something which is a lot more customer-friendly.

Lotus F1 team principal Tony Fernandes said that the their new car may not be ready by the proposed date.
