    Smile Looking back at 2009

    Follow us on Social Media

And finally its time to bid away 2009 and welcome a new year…

For any cinegoer 2009 would have been quite filmy, like a masala flick that started with a boring yawnful story – with very few impressive projects that failed to impress… Later as the year gained momentum, gradually the players tumbled in, adding interesting twist to the year’s Box Office collection. And finally the climax burst out with remarkable ending, bringing the year to a close and the audience too happy to remorse over the bygone dull months… However, 2009 had been quite bad for the movie market.

Now one can just hopefully look forward for a fruitful 2010 - with big-time projects along with equally big stars, lined-up to release one by one, in each month…

One cannot predict what the coming year has stored for us movie buffs and especially the BO, but one can surely go back and recollect how 2009 has been…

The year had been welcomed with the likes of Khiladi Kumar, Hrithik, SRK, Abhishek, Abhay Deol… All though these stars came out with films in the earlier months, their films didn’t bring any smile for both audience and BO. Chandni Chowk To China, Luck By Chance, Billu Barber, Delhi 6 sadly didn’t make their mark. However, it had been quite lucky for Abhay, for his Dev D might have not be a commercial hit, but it garnered lots of critical appreciations. Emraan Hashmi-Kangan starrer Raaz - The Mystery Continues didn’t attract the people with its horror story.

Come summer, the year plunged into the infamous Producer-multiplex strike, which greatly affected the film scenario and completely ate away the public’s soul entertainment.

And then came the twist… June gradually brought in the immense relief for the movie-deprived audiences… Paying Guests, New York, Kambakkht Ishq, Luck … The choice got better and better… Love Aaj Kal, Kaminey, Wanted… Although Dil Bole Haddipa, Life Partner, What’s Your Rashee?, Quick Gun Murugun had entered the competition, these films didn’t create much waves at the collection office.

All the months passed interesting ups and downs were recorded… People were offered with various options to choose from… Each month seem to have one highlight among the rest… While there were Do Knot Disturb, Blue, Main Aur Mrs. Khanna, Aladin, London Dreams, the winners turned out to be Wake Up Sid, All The Best.

Then came Aagey Se Right, Chintu Ji, Teree Sang, Tum Mile, Kurbaan, De Dana Dan; of which Jail, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani stole the hearts of maximum…

After these, you must the rest of the story which is quite fresh in the minds, thanks to the films which were a treat… Paa, Rocket Singh, 3 Idiots – These films just bloomed out like festival bonanza… We enjoyed Amitabh Bachchan’s childhood antics; saw Ranbir growing from a chocolate boy to a sardar... and last but not the least, just got lost in the world of carefree idiotic students…

2009 didn’t end with these though… The curtains were pulled down by three films on the last day of the year – Bolo Raam, Accident On Hill Road, Raat Gayi, Baat Gayi?

There were other players in the field who were sadly forgotten for their poor casting and lack of proper storylines. Aa Dekhen Zara, Fox, Morning Walk, Agyaat, Kissan, Jashnn, Daddy Cool, Aloo Chaat, Fox, Sankat City, Love Khichdi, Straight, Vaada Raha-I promise – all which sunk deeply…

According to a trade analyst, the box office collections had been boosted especially with the release of fun films.

So now, let’s sit back and watch films unfold in 2010… Hope the coming year screens mazedaar philums and bring dhaamdar collections for the BO…

Wish you a masaledaar, filmy year….!!!

Once I was called the Best,
now you can also be called the Best in ur category.
so what u waiting 4! make urself capable of being called best....
