Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) Chief General Manager, Andhra Pradesh Circle, T N Sudheendra Kumar today said the company need not take permission of neighbours while setting up new BSNL towers in the state.

Addressing a press conference here, he said, ''We have to take the permission of the owners only as per the court order.'' Mr Kumar said earlier the Andhra Pradesh Govenment had issued an order which said that the BSNL had to take permission of the both the owner and the neighbour, as the latter would also be affected if the tower fell all of a sudden.

But, after the Government order, BSNL approached court and got a ruling in its favour which said that the consent should be taken only from the owners, he said.

He said about 1,120 new sites had been identified and work was going on to put the BSNL 3G equipment which was different from the 2G equipment.
