Sphere Origins' family drama for Star Plus' afternoon band; Ashiesh, Ananya, Neeraj, Charu roped in
Sphere Origins, makers of the very popular and long-running show Balika Vadhu are now looking at making a path-breaking family drama for Star Plus. Tentatively titled Hum, the show will trace the roots and bonding of two families settled in Allahabad. While one family will be rich, leading a luxurious life, the other family will be content with a middle-class lifestyle.
The story will deal with contrasting lifestyles that the two families live in, and would raise the question of whether the materialistic quotient in life makes one happy, or whether it is the simple life with satisfaction that takes the cake.
Well, while this is about the concept of the show, we now get on to the prime casting that has got locked..
Noted actor Ashiesh Roy who usually masters in comic roles has been roped in to play the head of one of the families. This role will be different for the actor, as for the first time he will be breaking his image to don a serious avatar, is what we hear. Ashiesh was last seen essaying Pratyusha’s dad in Sony TV’s Hum Hain Naa.
Joining Ashiesh will be seasoned actor Ananya Khare who was last seen in Rang Rasiya. Ananya will play the money-hungry wife of Ashiesh who would crib everyday for leading a middle-class life.
Playing a huge part as the younger generation kids on the show will be Neeraj Malviya and Charu Asopa, is what we get to hear.
A source confides in us, “The show is slated to be Star Plus’ next big project for two reasons. Firstly because it will open up an afternoon band for the channel, and secondly because it will be a daily show aired for an hour.”
To give you more info, plans for the afternoon band on Star Plus are being chalked as of now. The channel is in talks with a couple of other production houses too to launch shows in the afternoon slot.
However, as of now, this Sphere Origins show has been commissioned and is in its casting process right now. The show is expected to go on floor in mid-March.
For the uninitiated, Star Plus has had a remarkable run earlier when it comes to their afternoon programming. Shows like Bhabhi, Kumkum – Ek Pyaara Sa Bandhan, Hamari Devrani set high standards for the channel. Other shows that had a good run in the afternoon band are Grihasti, Jahan Pe Basera Ho, Sapno Se Bhare Naina, Tere Mere Sapne.
