Ekta Kapoor casts her favourite 'Junagadh wali dadi' Induben Mehta for Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyar
Remember the ‘loud and comic’ Junagadh wali Dadi’s high-energy phone conversations in Ekta Kapoor’s trendsetter show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi
Well, the lady Induben Mehta who is aged 82 now, will be making a comeback to acting in Balaji Telefilms’ upcoming Sony TV show, Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyar.
Yes, you heard it right!!
At the age of 82, Induben has the zeal and enthusiasm to keep working, and Ekta has given her a splendid character keeping her age in mind in her new show.
A reliable source states, “Induben will essay the role of ‘Super Nani’ in Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyar. She will be the nani of the lead Pallavi Kulkarni. She has been given a rib-tickling comic avatar to play, and will be seen as the old lady suffering from Alzheimer’s, thus forgetting who she is and who her close ones are.”
As for Induben, she has gone through a series of health problems. A road accident leading to a semi-coma stage while shooting for Kyunki Saas, and even a knee joint transplant recently has not deterred the actress from continuing with her passion of acting.
Says Indu’s daughter, Jayshree Gandhi, “My mother is 82 and my father in 89 and both of them want to keep working. I am proud of them. Yes, my mother will now be seen in Balaji Telefilms’ new show on Sony TV. My mother shares a very unique bond with Ektaji, and Ektaji considers her as her own nani. Ektaji has been with us, supporting us even when my mother fell sick. And now, for Ektaji to script a character for my mother, that too at the age of 82 is something great. My mother cannot walk on her own, and needs a support. So I accompany her for her shoots. She is enjoying life all over again, and that makes me happy as a daughter.”
Induben Mehta was also seen as Champakali’s dadi in Ekta’s Bandini. She also appeared in an episodic of Sony TV’s Crime Patrol last year.
Here’s saluting the will power and enthusiasm of the old lady, and of course the confidence that Ekta has in her.
