Default Salman Khan vs Shahid Kapoor

What better way to settle personal scores than on a professional field! For the first time in their career, Salman Khan and Shahid Kapoor, the silent foes who haven’t been on talking terms for years, are set to clash at box office this Friday as their respective films Wanted and Dil Bole Hadippa hit the marquee.

Though it’s going to be a tough battle, the balance seems tilted in Shahid’s favour. Here’s how:

Don’t get us wrong. We love Salman, but the momentum is in Shahid’s favour because the actor is riding the crest of Kaminey’s success, whereas Salman is still trying to resurrect his sagging career after five back-to-back flops (Marigold, God Tussi Great Ho, Heroes, Hello and Yuvvraaj).

If that’s not enough, ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ is likely to see more seat bums in theatres and pull in more family crowd than ‘Wanted’ because of its feelgood theme and the presence of Rani Mukherjee who plays a Punjabi girl guised as a boy to play cricket.

‘Wanted’, on the other hand, is an action thriller with some romance between Salman and Ayesha Takia thrown in. The movie’s serious theme will not help its run at theatres in this festive season that begins with Eid on Monday.

And lastly, the viewers have already got enough exposure of Salman Khan on his TV show ‘10 Ka Dum’ while Shahid, who has emerged as the latest pin-up boy among the youth, has got everyone’s appetite whetted after his superb performance in ‘Kaminey’.

Flanked by Rani on one side and two sirens (Sherlyn Chopra and Rakhi Sawant) on the other, Shahid could give Salman tough competition at the ticket window this Friday.
