Bollywood stars add glam to fashion week
Day III, the final day of the VHIMW, saw a lot of star power in attendance...
‘We’re being human – we want to see Salman!’
Sallu’s kinda bod may not be in vogue these days, unless he makes an appearance in clothes that show off his toned body. Dressed formally in different suits twice for the finale of the Van Heusen India Men’s Week – once for Ashish Soni and the other time for Rohit Gandhi-Rahul Khanna – Sallu looked cool but not better than the way he looks when he’s shirtless!
But Sallu will be Sallu... When he took the final walk with the designers, he asked if his job was done. “Ho gaya?” he asked. On receiving yes for an answer, he took his jacket off and that was when the audience got a taste of the real Salman!
The actor was unwell (he had a bad cold) and when we went to see him backstage, we heard his fans saying, “We’re only being human (the name of Salman’s charity organisation) if we want to see Salman!”
Salman’s sister Arpita was present too. She said, “I came with my brother because I know how strongly he feels about his charity. This, by the way, is his ramp debut in Delhi.”
Acid Factory on the ramp
Actor Aftab Shivdasani blew several kisses from the ramp when he walked for Samant Chauhan as part of the cast of Acid Factory. Like, too many of them! Along with him were Dino Morea and Sanjay Gupta, the producer of the movie. About Acid Factory, Sanjay said, “Iss film mein bahut kaminey hain. Actually, six kaminey aur ek kamini hai – Dia Mirza. She plays a character with grey shades too. We were thinking of casting Bipasha for this role, but when we actually did the casting, we thought, why not Dia?”
But why was Dia off the ramp?
The buzz was that Dia would walk the ramp with Aftab, Dino and Sanjay for Samant. But before the show, we got to know that Dia had taken an earlier flight back to Mumbai. A li’l birdie told us that apparently, Shantanu-Nikhil, whose designs Dia’s been endorsing, were mighty ticked off about her walking for another designer as part of Acid Factory, and asked her to choose. Instead of making that difficult choice, Dia, reportedly, just left.
Samant chala Bollywood
The source from the Acid Factory unit also told us that Sanjay has signed Samant to do a special collection for the film. And since the shooting is already complete, the actors will wear these clothes on the promotional trip. And that’s not all, Sanjay has also signed Samant for his next film. When we spoke to Samant, he confirmed the news. “Yes, I’ll be designing a promotional line for them. They’re promoting the film in Bangalore, Chennai and Delhi, among other cities, and the cast will be wear dresses designed by me. Sanjay is quite impressed with my work and has said that he’ll work out something with me for his next film.”
