Bipasha Basu seduces a young boy
Pankh, every once in a while ruffles a few feathers and keeps itself in the news – whether over its lead actor Maradona Rebello shooting for a nude scene or Bipasha Basu refusing to smoke for a scene. What is Pankh about? It’s about a boy who as a child artist plays little girl roles in film, but when he grows up wants to be launched as a hero and that becomes difficult to achieve given his record as a ‘girl’.Where does Bipasha fit in this scheme? She is an imaginary muse of the actor Maradona, helping him cross the bridge. And how does she do it? With her seduction number that opens the film score, Ji Jala- a smoky, glittering baccarat crystal that sparkles in the raspy voice of Sunidhi Chauhan.
Raju Singh, is the composer, and usually stays away from film scores. He comes up with this tantalizing number that could be wasted if not perfectly shot. Since Rocky S has styled Bipasha for the song; the image of Sophia Loren and Liza Minelli she wants to exude must come across in the song. Mama, the second track is a song where a beleaguered son sings to his mama to just let him be how he is. It’s a painful elegy and because it’s a situational track, it will make sense with the picturization. Before you can look for more, the album closes with Pankh’s theme, an instrumental piece to underscore the importance of a scene. There is some chant by a chorus but both bother trying to decipher the code in this coda.
With just three tracks, one looking more like a Bipasha item number, the film will use the rest of the score in the background. On the strength of just one item number, will Pankh fly off the music shelves? Not a chance.
