Even before it goes on air, Bharat Ka Veer Putra - Maharana Pratap on Sony TV is having a comeback of sorts with yesteryear actors on Indian Television like Shakti Anand, Aashka Goradia, Rajshri Thakur and Iqbal Khan to name a few.
Contiloe Telefilms historical Bharat Ka Veer Putra - Maharana Pratap which is set to replace Ekta Kapoor's Kya Hua Tera Vaada is creating a huge buzz since the casting for the perfect actors is on.
While Shakti Anand who was not as busy on Indian Television till he turned producer with his actress wife Sai Deodhar has been confirmed to essay the role of Maharana Pratap's father Uday Singh, Aashka Goradia who was a participant in Bigg Boss Season 6 has been finalized to play the role of Udai Singh's (Shakti Anand) youngest wife Bhatiyani.
However, things are still not clear with Rajshri Thakur and Iqbal Khan, both of whom denied that they have not yet signed on the dotted line. Iqbal Khan who was last seen in Teri Meri Love Stories maintains that he was not offered the role of Maharana Pratap and the role which he was offered was that of Uday Singh which then went on to Shakti Anand as Iqbal was not interested, "I have not been offered the role of Maharana Pratap as yet… let's see what happens next" says the good looking actor with the intense voice.
Rajshri too says that, "I had auditioned for the role of Uday Singh's wife, Maharani Javantha Bai Songara and I am talking about it since I believe they are ok with me but I have still not signed the contract.
While the production house is okay with me, the final decision rests with the channel which is still pending." The dusky beauty who had become a household name as Saloni on Zee TV's serial Saat Phere was on a self-imposed hiatus for a long time. "I just needed time for myself and was at peace. Now that I am making a comeback I am gearing up for the grind again" says Rajshri.
A source close to the channel maintains that Maharanan Pratap is a big thing for the channel and they are keen on having talented actors and not just good looking ones. Performance is the key word here since it is a historical and the presentation has to be grand.
It seems that the hunt is on for actors who fit the bill when it comes to specific characters and there will be no compromise on that front.
