'Om Shanti Om' set for March 16 release in Japan
MUMBAI: After the release of Salman Khan's "Ekt Tha Tiger", Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Om Shanti Om" is set for March 16 release in Japan. Directed by Farah Khan is planned across an unprecedented 15 screens, one of the biggest ever for an Indian film in Japan.
Subtitled in Japanese and coming six years after its release in India and rest of the world, "Om Shanti Om" has been named " Koi Suru Rinne Om Shanti Om" in Japanese — "Koi Suru" stands for to fall in love and "Rinne" is reincarnation. Director Farah Khan will be present at the film's grand premiere in Tokyo, Japan.
Yashraj has planned to release Shah Rukh's "Jab Tak Hai" Jaan later this year.
Speaking on the announcement, Kumar Ahuja, senior VP, business development, Eros International said: "Shah Rukh Khan enjoys cult fan following overseas, including in Japan and the fabulous showcasing planned for the film there reasserts his global appeal. We are constantly looking at opening new markets for Bollywood films worldwide and are confident "Om Shanti Om" will be very well received on its release in Japan".
