    Default Ghosh, Nilekani, Bhagat in Golden Quill award long list

    Amitav Ghosh, Nandan Nilekani, and Chetan Bhagat figure among 28 writers whose works have made it to the long list of this year's Indiaplaza Golden Quill book awards.

    While Ghosh and Bhagat are listed in the fiction category for their works "Sea Of Poppies" and "The 3 Mistakes of My Life", Nilekani's work "Imagining India" has been recognised in the non-fiction section.

    Among other prominent writers vying for top honours in the fiction category are Shinie Antony (Seance on a Sunday Afternoon), Manohar Shyam Joshi (Tta Professor), Kunal Basu (The Japanse Wife), Karan Bajaj (Keep Off The Grass), Anuja Chauhan (Zoya Factor) and Saeed Mirza (Ammi).

    The long list was sorted from over 1,000 books which have been written (and rewritten) and published in India in 2008.

    Indiaplaza Golden Quill Book Awards is an annual award powered by, a leading online shopping destination, to recognise works of authors domiciled in India.

    Besides Nilekani, others in the non-fiction category long list are Shobhaa De (Superstar India), Pallavi Aiyar (Smoke and Mirrors), Al Raines (For the class of 2010), Anita Nair (Goodnight and God bless), Subroto Bagchi (Go Kiss The World), Vijay Nagaswami (The 24X 7 Marriage ), Sudeep Chakravarti (Red Sun) and Basharat Peer (Curfewed Night).

    The winners will be awarded the Golden Quill trophy and presented with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh each.
