Once again Sanjay Dutt has left a producer-director and writer in a lurch. But this time producer-director Shakeel Noorani is not taking things lightly. Director Shakeel Noorani had started work on the film Jaan Ki Baazi in 2001 with Sanjay Dutt. The film was 50 per cent complete by 2002 but then Sanjay stopped giving the director his dates. It’s been seven years since that the director has been waiting for his dates. Every time Sanjay had some reason or the other to not commit his dates to Noorani.

The director finally approached the IMPPA (Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association) for help. A meeting between the Joint Disputes Settlement Committee and Sanjay, was also arranged on July 24 at the IMPPA office.

Once again Sanjay postponed the meeting due to non-availability of dates. IMPPA has been informed by CINTAA (Cine and TV Artistes’ Association) that Sanjay is in South Africa shooting for Anees Bazmee’s No Problem till August 17 and hence the meeting can be arranged only after that.

IMPPA had received a letter for adjournment in the matter. According to Shakeel Noorani of Noorani Films Corpn, “Sanju has been playing hide-and-seek with us from 2002 and this is why I have sent a complaint to the IMPPA. The film is 50 per cent complete and I am broke because of this film.”

Noorani adds, “He was busy with the elections. Then he was shooting in Goa and now he says he is away at South Aftrica. He has been giving dates to other producers but me. He is using a lot of pressure on the IMPAA committee too. I don’t know why he is behaving like this but I have lost more than Rs 4 crores in the business.”
