It's 'high five' for Vidya Balan
Vidya Balan seems to be the only actress who is giving the actors in Bollywood a run for their money. Whether it's her choice of scripts or clothes, she sure knows how to standout. In the last four years, the actress has had five successful films. And it's not just about the numbers at the box office. She has been winning awards at all the award functions. In one of his tweets, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap dubbed her the true successor of superstar Aamir Khan when it comes to choice of scripts. We look at the films that have won her much praise from critics and applause from moviegoers.
Paa (2009): Vidya played mom to Amitabh Bachchan in the movie that was directed by R Balki. The movie has her playing an unwed mom to a 12-year-old boy with an extremely rare genetic disorder called progeria.
Ishqiya (2010): The movie had Vidya playing a widow, in which she cons two conmen who fall for her.
No One Killed Jessica (2011): Vidya played playing Sabrina Lall (sister of Jessica Lall who was shot in a Delhi nightclub). Vidya's subtle act served as the perfect foil to Rani's role of a boisterous journalist.
The Dirty Picture (2011): Vidya played the sensuous Silk, based on Southern star Silk Smitha's life. The film produced by Ekta kapoor did not only do huge business at the box office, but it also helped Vidya take home all the awards.
Kahaani (2012): After The Dirty Picture, Vidya chose a movie that was based in Kolkata and had her looking for her husband. The actress carried the movie on her shoulder and even took home almost all major trophies this year.
