No rules in Bollywood: Irrfan Khan
Irrfan Khan's contribution to cinema has won him many accolades including the recent Filmfare Critics' Award for Best Actor (Male) for Paan Singh Tomar.
The actor is juggling between a career in Hollywood and his Bollywood films and is happy the way films are shaping up today. "The country is waking up to good stories. India is a diverse country and has many such stories. We don't have a lack of ideas. We just need good filmmakers to put it in an interesting way to make it watchable. You cannot make films that are boring or a thesis. A film engages you emotionally and intellectually. Luckily 2012 was a very good year for our industry," says Irrfan.
Adding, "I'm trying to strike a balance between Bollywood and Hollywood. I'm very clear on doing Hollywood films. I will only do a Hollywood film when there is something special offered to me. I do films here sometimes for the sake of it but I would like to cut down on that kind of cinema."
Talking about his acting background, the actor adds, "I came to be an actor in cinema. Though I didn't think I'd become one, I had a humble desire. I was fortunate enough to get a chance in cinema. There are no rules in the industry. You can be from any background. You should have the desire to do what you want to do."
