Bollywood set for remakes this year
While there are many sequels releasing in 2013, a lot of money is also being spent on remaking some hits from the past. While Shah Rukh Khan's act in 'Don' and 'Don 2' got mixed reviews, HrithikRoshan won a lot of applause and nominations for his version of Vijay DinanathChauhan in 'Agneepath'. The makers gave the movie a great twist by casting Sanjay Dutt as the villainous KanchaCheena. 'Bol Bachchan',which was based on Hrishikesh Mukherjee 's 'Gol Maal', may have been disliked by the critics, but the movie did great at the box office in 2012. This year, Bollywood will revisit its archives yet again. Here are the movies that will take us back into the past on the silver screen.
Himmatwala: After making superhits like Housefull and Housefull 2, Sajid Khan will direct the remake of Himmatwala. The movie features Ajay Devgn in Jeetendra's role, while Tamanaah will try to fit in Sridevi's shoes. The movie will release on March 29.
Chashme Buddoor: Sai Paranjpye's 1981 comic film, starring Farooq Sheikh and Deepti Naval, was about a group of Delhi University students. The movie is now being directed by David Dhawan and features Ali Zafar, Siddharth and Tapsee. The movie is also slated for an April release.
Zanjeer: South star Ram Charan Teja (Chiranjeevi's son) will make his debut as the new-age angry young man in the remake the Bachchan blockbuster. Filmmaker Prakash Mehra's son Amit is directing the movie. Priyanka Chopra, who starred in the remakes of Don and Agneepath (both had Bachchan in the original) will be seen in this movie too. The movie is likely to release in May.
