Hollywood's not about 100 but 1000 crores: Irrfan
Irrfan Khan is one happy actor after winning the Filmfare Critics' Award for Best Actor (Male) for Paan Singh Tomar. Now his Hollywood film Life of Pi has won an Oscar nomination for Best Picture among other categories and he's confident of its win.
" Life of Pi will walk away with a few Oscars", says Irrfan. And now with his plate full, Irrfan is looking to strike the right balance between Hollywood films and Hindi cinema. "I'm trying to strike a balance. I'm done doing films for the sake of it. However, I will only do a Hollywood film if something meaningful is offered to me."
In spite of the success of his films nationally and internationally, Irrfan laughs off the whole frenzy behind the 100 crore club. "I have no power and control over the 100 crore club. I don't know how to play that game. If you start counting, then Hollywood films are not about 100 crores, they are about 1000 crores. The Namesake and Life of Pi crossed the 300 & 500 million dollar mark. How does that affect an actor? Certain things are not done by an actor so it's meaningless to talk about it. If I was controlling the game, then it would make sense to speak on the issue. I didn't become an actor to count my collection but to have an impact on people's heart. Collections should come by default if the film's popular."
