Dad-to-be Oberoi seeks blessing for a healthy kid
SABARIMALA: Not deviating from the yearly ritual, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi climbed the holy hills of Sabarimala on Monday afternoon.
Unlike the last 13 years, Oberoi had come with a very special prayer to Ayyappa this time; to bless his wife and him with a "healthy kid"."Please bless us with a healthy kid".
Oberoi's wife Priyanka is expecting sometime between February 5 and 15.
Oberoi also met thantri kandararu Rajeevaru with a request to pray for a healthy child.
Talking to TOI at the Sannidhanam, Oberoi said visits to Sabarimala refreshes the mind. "Our soul is like a battery and I consider Sabarimala as a charging station. This is the apt place for me to charge the soul and get good, positive vibes and energy till the next year. It's been 14 years since I started visiting Sabarimala and seeking blessings from my favorite God. Preparing for the Sabarimala pilgrim season, visiting here after observing penance for 41 days and finally standing in front of Ayyappa. It is a cycle of spiritual refreshment," said Oberoi, clad in traditional black garb.
"A visit to Sabarimala teaches us discipline and tolerance, especially in a world like ours which is slowly becoming intolerant and witnessing lots of fights, hatred and wars. This is one of those things that take your mind away from all that. It's quite beautiful. You come here and completely indulge in peace and love," he said.
He filled Irumudikkettu from Chotty Sree Mahadeva temple near Kottayam on Monday morning.
"I'm not keeping well. I thought I won't be able to make it this year due to sickness. I slept on Saturday night and prayed to Ayyappa that if I recover on Sunday morning, I will take the flight to Cochin and visit Sabarimala. I felt better when I woke up, so took a flight and came here. I think, Ayyappa wanted me to come," Oberoi said flashing his trademark smile.
On Sunday Oberoi had tweeted: "Switching off for a few days as I leave for my annual pilgrimage to Sabarimala! Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa."
