    Colors has completed one more glorious year of making television viewing a family phenomenon. Year 2012 shall be a year to recall…if not for all, at least for Colors. 2013 journey for Colors was no less than a rollercoaster ride. Below are the details on what happened to the channel in 2012.


    Ring Ka King – Wrestling Ka Mahayuddh

    It was one of its kinds wrestling reality show produced by Endemol and backed by TNA. It combined the excitement of sports with the drama of television. The show showcased 30 international level wrestlers fighting it out with apne desh ke pehelwan to win the coveted title of 'Ring ka King’. Harbhajan Singh was the official goodwill ambassador of this new 'sports entertainment' show. The first season of 26 episodes concluded on April 22, 2012.

    Chhote Miyan Season 3– Laughter Fight Karein Aapko light

    This children’s comic talent hunt show, Chhote Miyan smacked the television screens with its innocent dose of comedy on 25 February 2012. The judges were Bollywood actress, Mahima Chaudhary and talented TV and film actor Sachin Pilgoankar. The show sparked an interest in the viewers as it brought out a different, innocent side of kids today. In its third season, the show surely left everyone wanting for the next one.

    All is Well with Dr. Ahluwalia

    With All is Well, Colors marked the launch of its first ever wellness show in April 2012. Taking the viewers through this 1 hour format show, that tracked health issues, current diseases, inspiring stories of ordinary people fighting various ailments, was Dr. Sonu Ahluwalia, an Orthopedic Surgeon based out of USA. A student of Harvard University (Boston), his clientele includes celebrities like Hrithik Roshan, Shakira, Sunny Deol, Matthew Perry, James Gandolfini, Teri HAtcher, Stevie Nicks to name a few. The show was aired on Sundays at 12 noon.

    Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa

    Leaving all the previous seasons behind this season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa took the show to a brand new level. To start with the contestants, viewers witnessed the addition of a commoner with the other celebrities dancing his heart out. Launched on June 16, 2012, this four month long journey marked various memorable moments in the history of Indian television, one of them was Sri Devi and Madhuri together after almost a decade. It’s little wonder that the opening episode of this season garnered the maximum ratings than all its previous seasons. The show ended with Gurmeet Chaudhary being crowned the winner along with partner Shampa.


    This Singing reality show, Sur-Kshetra simulcasted on three channels, Colors, Sahara One and Pakistan's Geo TV. The show featured 10 singers each from India and Pakistan. The participants were mentored by singers Himesh Reshammiya and Atif Aslam. The jury on the show comprised of industry veterans Asha Bhosle, Abida Parveen and Runa Laila. The show went on air in the month of September and as this spectacular year comes to an end, so will the show.

    Zindagi Abhi Baki Hai

    A 3 part series that captured Yuvraj Singh's journey and victory over cancer. It was not just a show but a way of life an inspiration to one and all who have lost hope. The money raised through sponsorships was donated by COLORS to Yuvi’s foundation “You We Can” that works towards cancer awareness. The series was a way of creating awareness about cancer as it captured Yuvraj’s journey from his treatment to his participation in the T 20 World cup.

    India’s Got Talent season 4

    This season of India’s Got Talent traversed across the length and the breadth of the country to dig out talent from the deep burrows of India’s heartland, in search of India’s next pride. Raising the temperature this season, the judges for the show were Malaika Arora Khan who replaced Sonali Bendre as the judge. To add on to the charm and entertainment, she was joined by none other than the King of
    entertainment-Karan Johar. Veteran actor, Kirron Kher returned as the judge for the fourth time on the show. After the audition episodes, Malaika Arora Khan was replaced by Farah Khan as the judge. The talent showcased some awe-inspiring acts but ultimately the winners were Kolkata-based Bhavish Kids who wowed the judges with their dedication. The show was aired every Saturday and Sunday at 10 pm.

    Shaitaan – A Criminal Mind

    Shaitaan is a weekend show, which replaced India’s Got Talent Season 4 and is scheduled to air every Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 pm on Colors. The show attempts to decipher what actually goes in the minds of criminals. It is a new perspective at a crime where in the anchor, Sharad Kelkar tries to narrate the story while delving in to the minds of the criminal.

    Bigg Boss Season 6

    The biggest reality show of the nation, Bigg Boss Season 6, lived up to its theme of Alag Che by each passing episode. This season’s Bigg Boss started with signing Salman Khan back as the host. There was nothing that was left untouched to be experienced by this season’s contestants. A new padosi, mud house house, a flash mob, relatives entering the house, mall shopping – this season had it all! Now, as the show reaches its finale in a few weeks, the viewers are sure to stay hooked on till the end!


    Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha

    An unusual love story that touched everyone’s hearts –Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha launched in January 2012. Emphasizing on the subtle things in a mother-son, daughter in law - father-in-law, husband and wife , father and daughter relationships, the show took the viewers through a heart rendering journey of Megha and Mohan’s relationship. The show ended complications in Megha and Mohan’s relationship, post their marriage, keeping the viewers hooked for a first ever second season in January.

    Kairi – Rishta Khatta Meetha

    Kairi was a take on the sweet and sour moments of life that a family goes through. It was a journey of Imarti Devi who from a single mother had become one of the most authoritative members of the family and her hold on her bahus. The story revolved around the lives of the sweet tyrant mother-in-law – Imarti Devi, her daughter-in-law - Ambi’s struggle, and her son Anuj who’s living an indifferent life in the midst of the son/husband dilemma. The show has such an impact that in no time, Imarti Devi became a house hold name. It replaced Hawan at the 7 PM slot and successfully went on for a good 9 months.

    Chhal - Sheh Aur Maat

    The first fictional thriller show at prime time slot was launched in form of Chhal. Being the first of its genre on COLORS, it started off really well and as any other thriller show ended in a short span of time eventually, to be replaced by Bigg Boss Season 6.

    Madhubala.. Ek Ishq, Ek Junoon

    Commemorating the 100years of Indian cinema, Colors launched Madhubala.. Ek Ishq, Ek Junoon. Based against the backdrop of the Indian film industry, the show has two of the most popular faces in the television industry – Vivian Dsena and Drashti Dhami. It provided the viewers a glimpse in to the life of real Bollywood star while showcasing their struggles and challenges. Now, with Madhu and RK falling in love, the show is only expected to find a place further in people’s hearts.

    Jai Jag Janani Maa Durga

    With COLORS presenting its first ever women-centric mythology series, Jai Jag Janani Maa Durga encapsulates the life and experiences of Goddess Durga. Standing by its philosophy of encouraging cohesive viewing, Colors brought to the viewers a tale of Maa Durga’s strength, perseverance and will power. The show went on air recently at the 7 pm time slot.

    Suraj – The Rising Star

    In another first of its kind, Colors introduced an animation show in its line up with Suraj – The Rising Star. Story of a young boy who aspires to be a cricketer, the show highlights the challenges, struggles and triumphs of Suraj. This collaborative effort brings together content creators such as KODANSHA Inc., TMS Entertainment, Colors and DQ Entertainment to mark the 60th anniversary of bilateral ties between India and Japan. Starting December 23, 2012, the show will air on Colors every Sunday at 10 am.


    Sasural Simar Ka

    Sasural Simar ka is one of the biggest launches of 2011. Prem and Simar became an iconic couple and the various interesting twists and turns added to the popularity of the show. The show is currently the slot leader.

    Balika Vadhu

    Balika Vadhu continues to be the number one show on COLORS. Anandi’s journey from being a daughter in law to being a daughter again kept everyone glued to this show. It’s very difficult to maintain the same theme of the show as it was 4 years back but this is one show which has been successful in doing that. Year 2012 witnessed the beginning of Anandi’s new life with her marriage to her soul mate Shiv.


    Uttaran completed its 1000 episode mark this year and continues to be one of the most popular shows of the year. It took a generation leap and re-entry of Rashmi Desai as a positive character has really enthralled the audience and not let loose the grip of the storyline


    Another show that took a leap this year was Parichay. And as Ekta Kapoor is known for her exceptionality , the same was witnessed when the hunt for the new twins for the show began. Finally two boys were chosen amongst thousands of entries that came from all over the nation and the viewers are an bystander of Ekta’s choice after seeing the two boy’s performance. Post leap when Sidhhi and Kunal separated and Aruna Irani entered the show, the story became more gripping and riveting.


    COLORS Golden Petal Awards

    After the grand success of the last season’s Golden Petal Awards, this year was a much grander and much more splendid affair. Gracing the occasion were some really big names like Madhuri Dixit, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Kirron Kher etc. Some extraordinary performances by COLORS very own artist Pratyusha Bannerjee, Siddharth Shukla, Vivian Dsena, Drashti Dhami etc along with the best Khan of bollywood - Salman Khan set the stage on fire. The highlight of the event was Madhuri and Anil kapoor’s performance after years. The show will go on air December 31, 2012 at 9 pm.

    People’s Choice Awards

    COLORS launched the internationally acclaimed, People’s Choice Awards in India with Priyanka Chopra unveiling the trophy. The awards ceremony witnessed the who’s who of Bollywood, Music, Television and Sports fraternity descend on the red carpet. The ceremony aired on November 29, 2012.

    The 2013 kitty, as of December 2012: 24

    With Anil Kapoor making his debut on Indian television, Colors along with Anil Kapoor Film co will pave the way for a new hybrid genre of entertainment that sees interesting amalgamation of fiction and reality. A talented force comprising of director par excellence Abhinay Deo and penning the Indian adaptation of 24 will be the creative genius Rensil D’ Silva who will join forces to work together with the Colors Programming team led by Manisha Sharma. The show is slated to go on air in summer of 2013


    Starting the New Year with a bang, Colors will launch a new show that will take the viewers on a journey of their India as well as pardes, bringing alive the importance of family while living in a different country.

    Na Bole Tum Naa Meine Kuch Kaha - Season 2

    For the first time on Indian television, a fiction show will have a season. Introducing the second season of Na Bole Tum Na Meine Kuch Kaha, the show will take forward the story of Megha and Mohan bringing with it new twist and turns to the story.
