Irrfan Khan, who has never believed in toeing the line in his acting career, is no different when it comes to his personal life. He wants his

two sons, Babil Atam (12) and Ayaan (6) to follow an unorthodox system of studying at home.

The actor, who will soon move into his Madh Island apartment, is worried about how his sons will cope with the long distance travel. He said, “I want to introduce them to home schooling. That way they would have more time for their extra-curricular activities."

Irrfan had put his elder son in a school that followed an education system very different from the orthodox education programme. “Till a child is six, he is only encouraged to hold crayons. They are not even allowed to pick up a pen,” said Irrfan.

The school follows the Rudolph Steiner method of teaching and they encourage children to follow their natural aptitude instead of teaching them nursery rhymes and mathematical tables.

However, fear that the alternate education system may be a hindrance to his child getting a seat in the board exams, is what prompted Irrfan to bring his son back to the orthodox education system.

The actor said, “Since my elder son Babil is now almost a teenager, he too can voice his thoughts on how he wants to study. I will never force my child to do something against his wishes,” he said.
