Nargis Bagheri believes in slow but steady growth
Upcoming actor Nargis Bagheri, who made her debut in Akshay Kumar-starrer `Garam Masala', says she was satisfied with her slow but steady growth in the film industry.
"I would highlight the brighter side of my career where I have portrayed a glamorous role in my debut film `Garam Masala', a devdasi in message-oriented `Pranali' and a happy go lucky girl in soon to be released `Morning Walk' where I get to share screen space with the likes of Anupam Kher and Sharmila Tagore," Nargis told PTI.
She said instead of having a grand debut opposite a top star and then fading into oblivion, she was getting to portray meatier roles. Nargis claimed that she had refused films like Akshay Kumar-starrer `Bhool Bhulaiya' and `Mere Baap Pehle Aap' featuring Akshaye Khanna.
"I want to please myself and do characters which give me a high," Nargis said, adding categorising films into different genres was wrong.
Speaking about `Morning Walk', which releases this month, Nargis said the film speaks about love relationships.
"People are not very vocal and expressive about such relationships. This is a very feel good film which dwells into the relationship between Anupam Kher and Sharmila Tagore and their meeting again after 23 years," she said.
She plays Anjali, the "love child" of characters played by Sharmila and Kher, in the film.
"It was a rewarding experience working with these two stalwarts," Nargis said, adding she identified with her character in the film who is happy go lucky just the way she is in real life.
Nargis said she is currently shooting for `Khusti, a Venus Production which stars Rajpal Yadav and wrestler Khali among others.
"My character is that of a village girl where all the locals fancy the sport of `khusti' (wrestling). She has a huge crush on Salman Khan," the actor said.
