Mani Ratnam unhappy with Raavana!
Mani Ratnam is a passionate filmmaker - a fact which comes through in all the films he makes. Thanks to his quest for perfection, he has decided to reshoot several portions of his Aishwarya Rai-Abhishek Bachchan starrer, Raavana, which is his most ambitious project. The film’s cast has been asked to give a fresh batch of dates for the reshoot.
Our source from the sets of Raavana said, “Recently, when Mani sir was recovering from a minor heart scare, he decided to get his favourite cinematographer Santosh Sivan on board instead of Manikandan, who had already shot for Raavana. When they saw the film together, Mani sir felt that it could have been much better.
He felt that South Indian star Vikram, who plays the modern day Rama, was getting far more prominence than Abhishek Bachchan, who plays the title role. After a lot of discussion with his team, Mani sir decided to reshoot in July for over 30 days. He has already asked his production team to get new dates from all the actors.”
An actor, on condition of anonymity, said, “Yes, we have been asked to give fresh dates but we don't know why. No one dares to question Mani sir. I am sure whatever he does will be for the betterment of the film.”
