Bollywood Box Office: Silver Jubilee gift!
Vishesh Films, which celebrates 25th year as a prolific production house in Bollywood this year, couldn't have asked for a better gift from moviegoers. The smashing response to their new release RAAZ 3, which packed a solid punch in its opening weekend, only goes to prove the age-old theory right: Horror with sex is a lethal combination.
The Bhatts have, over the years, made qualitative films in a stipulated budget. The emphasis is on thrillers, which are garnished with melodious music, smooches and sex-laden moments. And the audience mandate to their films only encourages them to continue making 'small films with big ideas', as Mukesh Bhatt puts it.
RAAZ 3 reunites the Bhatts with their protege Vikram Bhatt. Most importantly, since Vikram had directed RAAZ and was directing the third installment of this successful franchise, there was tremendous responsibility on his shoulders to deliver big numbers. Bipasha Basu too was facing rough waves, professionally. RAAZ 3 was a do-or-die film for her.
RAAZ 3 was riding on its super-strong brand value and of course, Emraan Hashmi, who has emerged a hit machine over the years. The Bhatt discovery has had a string of hits in the recent past [MURDER 2, THE DIRTY PICTURE and JANNAT 2], which only consolidated his status as a bankable actor in Bollywood marquee. Fortunately for Emraan, the numbers of RAAZ 3 are expected to supersede his previous hits.
The super success of RAAZ 3 will prompt the Bhatts to continue making the kind of films they believe in. And with moviegoers embracing their films with affection and warmth, the enterprising Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt have cracked the code for success. Now awaiting RAAZ 4, 5, 6, 7...
