"In Angad I found my Kaleem" - Rensil D'Silva
He created characters that are etched in our memories for life. There was D.J, there was Sukhi, there was Sue, Karan, Aslam and Sonia, and a special mention to 'Mitro' (D.J's mother). I cannot forget Rang De Basanti. Meet the creator. Meet Rensil D'Silva. In his small private cabin of Dharma Productions, D'Silva is currently busy announcing his next big ensemble for his next biggie titled Ungli. So after finding Emraan Hashmi, Kangna Ranaut, Sanjay Dutt and Neha Dhupia, he's found his next cast member! As he puts it, "I found my Kaleem'. The question is - Who is Kaleem? Last year, the actor was seen in his debut Hindi feature that was a super success at the box office. He was noticed and so was his 'somewhere hidden' talent. And even though he'll always be remembered as the F.A.L.T.U. boy, he's damn serious about his debut Dharma Productions movie. So impressed were Rensil and Karan Johar after seeing his audition tapes that it took only a few minutes to decide on their Kaleem. Introducing Kaleem - Angad Bedi. The 6 feet plus actor is the new addition to the heavy duty cast of Ungli. Says director Rensil D'Silva, "Angad Bedi has just joined the cast of Ungli. I am really pleased with him because he is a fantastic actor. I saw him in the auditions once and before the first sentence was finished, I knew I found my Kaleem."
D'Silva adds further, "Angad completes the quatrain of friends in this film and he has a personality that is very different from others. I think he compliments them very well." On asking him about his fascination for the untapped talents of our industry, Rensil quotes, "I don't mind if the person is a known face or unknown. For me, there has to be a moment where I look at an audition and that person just clicks in my head and my heart and I know that this person can deliver."
But the true test of Angad Bedi came when his audition tape was presented to Karan Johar. Rensil recalls, "I remember sitting in a room with Karan Johar and seeing Angad and we both looked at Angad and we looked at each other instinctively because he was that good in his performance. That's rare, because I've lived with the characters and the story for six months and you are always worried as a writer and ask yourself - 'Will the search give me someone close to Kaleem or Kaleem himself?' In Angad I found my Kaleem."
