Though critics have panned Paying Guests, producer Subhash Ghai and writer-director Paritosh Painter are still going ahead with their plan to make a sequel.

It is learnt that when Ghai first saw the comedy, he felt the saga of the four friends in the film could continue as Paying Guests 2. He told the director to keep it in mind. In fact, for a while, he had also toyed with the idea of titling it Chaar Yaar.

Says Ghai, "I was on a family vacation in Europe when Paying Guests released. I received reports that the film was making audiences laugh. On arriving in Mumbai, I caught a show at an Andheri multiplex on Monday. I was gauging the audiences' reaction. They were enjoying themselves. From the theatre itself, I called Paritosh up and told him to go ahead with Paying Guests 2."

The sequel is slated to roll in September and is likely to include several of the existing cast members.
Informs Paritosh, "I have discussed a broad storyline of the sequel with Subhashji. In fact, I was planning another project with him, but now have incorporated it for the sequel.

The antics of the foursome now continue with a beauty pageant backdrop. At the moment, I am busy writing Dhamaal 2, after which I will begin Paying Guests 2."

It is learnt that Shreyas Talpade, Jaaved Jaafri, Aashish Chaudhary and Vatsal Sheth have been sounded off about their second outing. From the female cast that includes Celina Jaitly, Neha Dhupia, Riya Sen and Sayali Bhagat, some may remain or there could be other female stars.
