Raveena to play a socialite columnist in Shobhana 7 Nights
Making her big screen appearance after a long hiatus of five years, Raveena Tandon is making a return in the Sudipto Chattopadhay directed film Shobhana 7 Nights. In the film, the 37-year-old actress plays a socialite columnist and author named Shobhana, who gets into an intense relationship with a struggling actor in Bollywood.
Confirming the same the director said, "Raveena's character in Shobhana 7 Nights bears a close resemblance to some of the high society authors and columnists in Mumbai. The film is bold and sensual and sure to raise eyebrows."
Newcomer Amit Purohit will essay the role of the struggler, who turns to prostitution to survive his journey into Bollywood. "When I narrated to Raveena about the struggling male escorts in Bollywood, she did not believe me that it really happens. She was curious and hence we decided to go to this particular coffee shop where such male escorts have a base. Raveena, who wore a burkha, was stunned by everything that was happening," the filmmaker revealed.
Sudipto, who had earlier directed Pankh in 2010, is confident that Raveena would again give an award-winning performance in the film.
It may be recalled that Raveena had earlier won the National Film Award for best actress for her performance in Kalpana Lajmi's Daman.
