Fardeen Khan keen on making the remake of 'Qurbani'
The remake of Qurbani, the biggest hit of the 1980s, has just changed hands. Feroz Khan’s blockbuster, Qurbani, was earlier supposed to be remade by Sanjay Gupta with Fardeen Khan and Saif Ali Khan as the protagonists, but now, his friend-turned-foe Sanjay Dutt has managed to acquire the rights of the project.
Sanjay Dutt Productions will now produce the new-age version of Qurbani. Fardeen Khan will play his father Feroz Khan’s role. Interestingly, Sanjay Dutt himself has chosen not to step into Vinod Khanna’s role, but that of the gum-chewing cop’s role, played by Amjad Khan as he finds it more challenging and stylish. He is yet to zero in on a director, but Apoorva Lakhia, Soham Shah and Sanjay Gadhvi — his favorites, we hear, are top contenders.
The remake was almost pronounced dead when Feroz Khan passed away recently, but is now revived. Feroz was enthused about the remake but fell seriously ill, and after his death, a shattered Fardeen had to rush to Goa for the All The Best shoot with Sanjay Dutt. Reveals a source, “That was when Dutt and Fardeen bonded and the matter of Qurbani remake cropped up. And since Dutt wanted nothing more than rescuing the project from Sanjay Gupta, he happily agreed to produce the remake.”
And who will play the sexy Zeenat Aman’s role in the remake? Well, Bipasha Basu, who is also shooting with Sanjay and Fardeen in Goa, is the hottest contender.
