Shammi Kapoor’s jacket now owned by Aamir Khan!
At the Osian’s Cinefan auction in Delhi, rare Bollywood collectibles, including actor Shammi Kapoor’s jacket and Lagaan bat, were on public sale, where Aamir Khan and his wife successful purchased items worth Rs 238,000, which included late Shammi Kapoor’s jacket worth Rs. 88,000. The actor placed his bid via phone as he was in Panchgani.
The auction was a part of the ongoing 12th Osian’s-Cinefan Film Festival.
The other big purchase that was made was by the Gurgaon-based entertainment hub, Kingdom of Dreams. They bought the full rights to the last recorded song of legendary Kishore Kumar who recorded it three days before his death in 1987. Reports have it that they will now use it for their new musical show “Jhumroo”, which celebrates the spirit of the singer. A total of Rs.15.6 lakh was spend on it.
About 45 signed black-and-white photographic stills of Dev Anand went for Rs 4.2 lakh. Pather Panchali posters designed by Satyajit Ray, the turquoise silver ring worn by Farooque Sheikh in Umrao Jaan and outfits of Amjad Khan and Sanjeev Kumar from Shatranj Ke Khiladi were among the top-10 items auctioned.
According to Neville Tuli, founder chairman, Osian’s: “The auction emphatically indicated that an enormous potential exists for developing the market for Indian cinema memorabilia, and that the film fraternity now feels a sense of respect for its cinematic heritage.”
“Hereafter no one will dismiss these items as raddi (junk). They are collectibles and they have significant financial value,” Tuli said in a statement....being a human...
