Nagesh Kukunoor's next Laxmi gets delayed
Nagesh Kukunoor's next venture, Laxmi, is delayed as his producer backed out. The future of the film which deals with human trafficking issue seems to be in lurch due to financial crunch.
A source close to the director reveals, "The film was supposed to go on floor in March. The auditions happened long ago and cast is locked. The locations are finalized in Hyderabad. We have been waiting for the last few months for the film to go on floor. Tired of waiting, some of the crew members have left and joined other projects. Though the crew is told that Nagesh's back surgery has led to the delay but everyone knows that the actual reason is something else. The financer has backed out and Nagesh is finding it hard to find another producer for the film."
Unfortunately, the director of critically acclaimed films like Dor and Iqbal is struggling hard to get his film on floor. "Even though Nagesh won a lot of critical acclaim for his films but commercial success has always eluded the Hyderabad born. Especially, his last few films like 8X10 Tasveer, Aashayein, and Mod have not done well at the box office. As a result, no producer is willing to invest money in his films. There are chances of film getting shelved too if he doesn't find a producer," informs the source.
Nagesh's Yeh Hausla is also lying in cans for more than two years because he couldn't find a distributor. Another film that he was supposed to direct for Shilpa Shetty productions got shelved. We hope this one doesn't meet the same fate.
Kukunoor remained unavailable for comments.
