Ferrari still rolls, TMK and GOW hit road blocks"
There’s no telling what works at the Box-Office anymore. And Indian audiences’ tastes have got eclectic. Which is why, both of last Friday’s releases – the triple love story Teri Meri Kahaani and Anurag Kashyap’s high-voltage violent drama Gangs Of Wasseypur – met with dull response. Trade pundits say the films disappointed the ticket window!
Trade analyst Komal Nahta claimed, “Teri Meri Kahaani collected around 16 crore, while Gangs Of Wasseypur managed to collect 10.25 to 10.50 crore over the weekend. It’s unlikely that they will pick up this week. The Shahid-Priyanka pairing failed.”
Taran Adarsh agreed that Teri Meri Kahaani’s collections were disappointing and posted, “Has not found takers. The film did not take off on Day 1 itself and maintained similar figures over the weekend. There was no visible growth in business, which is disappointing. Collected approx Rs 16.75 cr + nett in its opening weekend. Breakup:-Fri 5.25 cr, Sat 5.50 cr, Sun 6 cr +."
The veteran trade pundit added about Gangs of Wasseypur, “Though the film showed an escalation in business over the weekend, it was not in sync with the merits of the film. It fared the best in Mumbai and Delhi plexes, besides UP and Bihar circuits. Surprisingly, the business at single screens of mass-dominated circuits was weak. Collected Rs 10.63 cr + nett in its opening weekend. Breakup:- Fri 3.03 cr, Sat 3.60 cr, Sun 4 cr +.”...being a human...
