| Producers-multiplexes issues finally resolved |
All’s well that’s ends well. Finally, every one can heave a sigh of relief (read producers, distributers and cine-goers) because the dispute between the producers and the multiplexes, which had brought the entire entertainment industry to a standstill, is over.
The final meeting that was held at Yash Raj Studios last night brought some good news for the media as both the parties seemed to be happy with the negotiations.
The terms that have been amicably agreed upon by all national multiplex chains are: 50:50 (producers: multiplexes), 42.5:58, 37.5:65 and 30:70 for the first four weeks respectively for all movies irrespective of the budget, starcast etc.
In case a movie collects more than Rs 17.50 crores at the top six multiplex chains then the terms will be as follows: 52.5:48, 45:55, 38:62 and 30:70.
According to our sources, it was BIG Entertainment chairman Amit Khanna who played arbitrator between both the warring parties. The first movie to hit screens on 12 June will be Vashu Bhagnani's Kal Kissne Dekha, which is co-produced by BIG Pictures.
For all those who were waiting to catch their favourite stars on celluloid screen, rejoice. The wait is finally over.
