Devgn mends ways with Prakash Jha: ‘Gangaajal 2’ confirmed
He had been directing professionally since as early as 1976, but it was not until ‘Gangaajal’ in 2003 that he finally received the commercial recognition that he craved for. And from what we believe, that could not have been possible without the presence of an immensely bankable Ajay Devgn in the lead. Yes, Prakash Jha had always been a good, ‘realistic’ director, but to survive in the sin city named Mumbai, it’s the audience that ultimately decides your fate. And with ‘Gangaajal’, Jha had arrived. It was followed by ‘Apaharan’ with the same team. Both were a success. But it was when Jha tried to Bollywood-ise his movies when the problem really started. Ajay Devgn cried foul that Jha had given him a raw deal in his multi-starrer ‘Raajneeti’. His role was reportedly edited to quite an extent. The two parted ways and there was no Devgn in ‘Aarakshan’. But fresh reports claim that the two are friends again and what has come out as a result is a win-win situation for both, and the audience alike.
The sequel for ‘Gangaajal’ has been confirmed and will reportedly go on floors in December this year. A source has claimed that the movie will again be set in Bihar only. Once Jha’s done with his ‘Satyagrah’, he’d start penning down the script for this. Kudos to the renewed friendship! We are excited!...being a human...
