'Love Aaj Kal is about love across generations'
Love Aaj Kal The Aaj and Kal in the movie’s title say it all. Saif Ali Khan’s first production venture Love Aaj Kal is about how different generations view love differently, but the essence of the feeling remains the same.
According to the film’s co-producer Dinesh Vijan (also Saif’s good friend), it’s like the Test cricket and T20. The older generations of cricket buffs love the Test cricket while the younger generation is captivated by only T20. The concept of love in the film is somewhat similar.
“'Love Aaj Kal' has major similarities with cricket. Like there is Test cricket and T20, the film too has love of two generations - love 'aaj' and love 'kal',” Vijan is quoted as saying by a news agency.
Vijan, who has earlier produced Being Cyrus , said the film’s theme deals with the essence of love through different stories featuring the lead pair of Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone .
“The story basically revolves around the fact that though the process of relationships and love has changed over time, its essence and basic character remains the same,” the producer remarked.
So, unlike other Bollywood romances, will ‘Love Aaj Kal’ cater to different generations?
“Our film has a very relevant language. The story caters to both generations and thus has 'Kal' and 'Aaj' in the title. Therefore, the film has a wide reach. Everyone will feel connected to the subject,” he maintained.
The producer-duo along with the film’s leading lady will promote the movie at the upcoming T20 World Cup in England.
“We have associated with the T20 World Cup. We will shoot a promotional video on the T20 World Cup. Deepika and Saif will also go to London to cheer the Indian team,” Vijan revealed.
Also starring Rishi Kapoor and Rahul Khanna , ‘Love Aaj Kal’ is directed by Imtiaz Ali of Jab We Met fame. The film has been shot in many cities across the world, including Delhi, Kolkata, London and San Francisco.
The film expected to hit the theatres in June.
