New iPad sells briskly in India debut
In less than two months after the new iPad was unveiled, it went in India from Friday. Considering the competitive pricing of the tablet starting from Rs 30,500 and going up to Rs 50,900 for various models, there was a lot of buzz about the launch.
Unlike the US market where Apple lovers queue up outside the store before the launch, there wasn't much rush crowd at the Apple resellers. However, when enquired about the sales, the numbers were quite surprising.
As per the information shared by the iWorld store at Promenade Mall, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, the store received close to 80 units out of which 48 had been sold out 4 PM in the evening. Similarly, the recently opened FutureWorld at Connaught Place, New Delhi, has received a stock of 250 units out of which 50 units have been sold.
The response at the Reliance Digital, Vasant Kunj, wasn't great as they managed to sell only two 16GB Wi-Fi variant through out the day. The Croma Store at Connaught Place sold out 10 new iPads of the 30 units received.
The response has been pretty much similar good in Mumbai as well. The stocks have been completely sold out at iMagine stores in Mumbai. The iMagine store in Worli received 100 units which have been completely sold out where as the iStore managed to sell 22 units of the 40 received.
Surprisingly, the top model (64GB, Wi-Fi+4G) is selling the most. Many people are picking up the 32GB Wi-Fi+ 3G iPad as well. In comparison to the two, only a handful of the 16 GB variant has been sold.
