Earlier in the day (12 April 2012), the news of Imagine TV shutting down hit everyone like a bolt of lightning. The news is yet to sink in the hearts and minds of the people associated with the channel. One question kept hovering over everyone’s mind. What will happen to the existing shows and how will the stakeholders, such as television producers, react to the sudden decision. We decided to go in a little recce mode and get a grip of the latest development.

Production houses, namely, Sagar Arts and 72 Degree Northe have already wrapped up the shooting of their ongoing shows, Mahima Shani Dev Ki and Chandragupta Maurya respectively, informed a source.

“It’s a sad day for all who are working with Imagine. Hundreds of people will be out of their jobs today,” shared Nilanjana Purkayasstha producer of 72 Degree Northe.

The cast and crew of Maurya and Mahima…have been asked to make a retreat to Mumbai from their shooting location in Baroda. However, the team of Dwarkadheesh (Sagar Pictures) is continuing to shoot.

Preeto is another popular show on the channel produced by Creative Eye. We got in touch with its producer Dheeraj Kumar who said, “I just can’t quote anything right now.”

Producer Shyamasis Bhattacharya (Shakuntalam Telefims) said, “Our show Mi, Aaji Aur Saheb will stop shooting from tomorrow (13 April 2012).”

Not only producers, but actors of different shows on Imagine are also shell-shocked with the news.

“The news was a shocker for us. We are continuing to shoot as we are yet to get an official confirmation,” said Heena Parmar better known as Mahika of Haar-Jeet (Shashi-Sumeet Mittal Productions Pvt Ltd).

“I am just going on the sets to collect my tickets for Amritsar as we have a promotional tour there tomorrow (13 April 2012). However, I have no idea about the channel going off-air. But if it’s true, it’s definitely very sad then”, shared Jamuna Paar (Director’s Kut) actress Vidhi Parekh better known as Vidhi.

And when it comes to Shalini S Sahuta aka Pari of Baba Aiso Var Dhoondo, she is “completely taken back with the development”.

Now, another interesting query that has been cropping up is about the future of much-talked-about show, Swayamvar Season 4 - Veena Ka Vivaah. So we decided to talk to its producer, Fazila Allana of Sol Productions, “We haven’t started shooting yet hence it’s too early to talk about the status of Swayamvar.”

A channel being shut means huge amount of losses for the producers. So what will they do to prevent a big hole in their pockets? Our industry sources have informed us that the makers have already had a meeting with the channel officials and they have been assured that their losses will be taken care of.

Hmm…quite an interesting development. Anyways, today is still a sad day in the world of Hindi television. We are sure that fans will definitely miss the shows on Imagine TV.
