'I don’t mind playing Rajiv Gandhi’s killer'
Though recent reports on Shahana Goswami have been speculative about her relation with co-star Adhyayan Suman, the actor rubbishes it as a
publicity stunt for Jashnn.
Instead, she would rather comment on her forthcoming works, one of which is reportedly the role of Subha in AMR Ramesh’s 21/5/1991 — The Hunt for Rajiv Gandhi’s Killers.
Ask her about this hindi film and she says, “I was approached for this role in March. I met Ramesh then. But thereafter, I haven’t heard from him. In fact, I thought the role had been offered to someone else till, I again heard about my name in the cast of the film. I’m yet to read the script. If everything else works out, I suppose I’ll be playing Subha.”
Ask Shahana whether she has any reservations about playing a suicide bomber in a film that’s been directed by Ramesh of Cyanide fame, and the rock On!! actor says, “I have no problems playing Subha as long as people know that the film is a person’s impression. I don’t fear any backlash. I find the story interesting. When we made Firaaq, we were prepared for all sorts of comments, including negative feedback. It’s high time India made ilms on such subjects. But, of course, it has to be handled sensitively. Ramesh’s film requires a lot of research.”
Ramesh will reportedly begin shooting in July. “As of now, I am relatively free in July. I have a film coming up in August, though,” she signs off.
