Manasi’s ‘Hollywood’ experience
Manasi Parekh, yes the pretty Chandni of India Calling, is back from New
No, she hadn’t quit acting but had in fact, joined the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Academy in order to become better at her art.
How was the experience, we asked her? “Being a student at any phase in life is always very insightful. And being a student in New York is like the cherry on the cake. It has been one of the most satisfying and creative phases of my life,” said Manasi.
The actress got a chance to read some American playwrights like Neil Simons, Christopher Durang, Tenesse Williams and Langford Williams. “It opened up a whole new world for me and I think reading plays is absolutely essential for any actor,” she adds. Manasi also got a chance to perform in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and was thrilled as everyone loved her performance. “Another memorable moment was to see Susan Sarandon perform live on Broadway in the play Exit The King. I was standing outside the theatre and in walked Hugh Jackman, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. It was a very ‘Hollywood’ experience,” Manasi giggles.
Now that she’s back, she’s all geared up for the promotion of her Tamil film Leelai. “I’m also in the process of finalising a unique character portrayal on a TV show,” she reveals. Hmmm, seems Manasi’s ready to hit the acting world again with a vengeance!
