'Racha' ran into legal trouble over 'Vaana Vaana' song
Mega Power Star Ram Charan Tej’s much awaited forth coming film ‘Racha’ landed in a controversy even before its release for shooting a song in front of an idol of Gautam Buddha.
A remix rain song Vaana Vaana Velluvaaye… with Ram Charan and Tamanna shot before the idol evoked sharp criticism from women organisations. The song was shot under sets put up in a studio and the audio function was held recently at People’s Plaza on Necklace Road.
Jaathiya Arundhati Mahila Shakti (JAMS) on Sunday lodged a complaint with Banjara Hills police demanding stern action against the producer, director and choreographer for ‘hurting’ the sentiments of people. JAMS president K. Arundathi sent the complaint through email to Banjara Hills Inspector M. Sudharshan.
“These obscene scenes are against our culture and send wrong message to the people,” she complained, adding that the director should remove the song from the film. Ms. Arundathi also submitted a memorandum to Home Minister P. Sabita Indra Reddy.
The film is directed by Sampath Nandi and produced by R.B. Choudhary. Vaana Vaana Velluvaaye… is an original song from ‘Gang Leader’ film starring actor-turned-politicians Chiranjeevi and Vijayashanti. When contacted, Mr. Sudharshan said they had received only email and not any written complaint. “As of now, we have not registered any case,” he added.
