Saeed Ajmal is a blatant chucker: Bishan Singh Bedi
Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal’s controversial bowling action has sparked off a heated debate with former Indian cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi calling him a “blatant chucker”. Team India, unhappy with his bowling action, has reportedly complained to the ICC on Monday.
The senior players in the Indian squad feel that Ajmal chucks while bowling, sources said.
The Pakistani off-spinner, had ignited a controversy over his bowling action in an interview to BBC wherein he claimed that the ICC had given him special permission to straighten his arm beyond the regulated 15 degrees.
According to the ICC rules, a bowler can only straighten his arm up to 15 degrees, beyond which the action will be deemed illegal.
"ICC has allowed me 23.5 degrees because my arm is not good due to an accident,” he was quoted as saying in an interview to BBC recently.
Former Indian cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi has questioned the legality of his action while others have supportive of the Pakistani bowler. Bedi stated that it is ICC’s prerogative to react to the appeal which in Ajmal’s case is blatant chucking.
The Indian appeal against Ajmal’s controversial bowling action was turned down by the ICC saying that the tweaker was well within “the allowed degree of tolerance.”...being a human...
