Aamir did not want to be Anurag Kashyap’s puppet
Maverick director Anurag Kashyap may have made the most avant-garde movies of our times, but sometimes his vision gets so blurry and incomprehensible that it does not really reap good results at the box office window. According to inside sources, this is exactly the reason why big banners and superstars alike do not want to be associated with Anurag. And the recent report of Ranbir Kapoor, and not Aamir Khan, being signed for the filmmaker’s next ‘Bombay Velvet’ only strengthens the claims.
The industry is abuzz with stories about Anurag Kashyap’s autonomy over the script and everything on the sets when he is directing a movie. It is said that Mr. Kashyap, while approaching a producer, dictates a different version of the film than the one he ultimately directs. And that is what happened in the case of ‘No Smoking’.
