Abhay Deol and Emraan Hashmi will be seen sharing screen-space in Shanghai. The film is directed by Dibakar Banerjee, who won National awards for his films like Khosla Ka Ghosla (2006) and Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008). Shanghai is a relevant story based on the life of politicians and their greed. The movie also features the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara star Kalki Koechlin.

Abhay Deol is different from the rest of his colleagues. At a time when stars, big and small, indulge in all sorts of antics and are willing to be part of any controversy for the sake of publicity for their films, Abhay has put his foot down firmly and has refused to be part of a needless controversies.

The 'Dev D' actor is miffed with reports about his alleged rivalry with co-star Emraan Hashmi on the sets of their upcoming movie ‘Shanghai’ directed by Dibakar Banerjee (‘Khosla Ka Ghosla,’ ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’).

A report says that Abhay was very unhappy to hear such fabricated stories and that he knew the person who was responsible for it. He had enough reasons to believe this was simply a marketing strategy for ‘Shanghai’. The actor even clarified the matter with his director-friend Dibakar who denied any knowledge of Emraan's alleged problems with him.

At an event, the 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' actor firmly stated that he didn’t believe in cheap publicity for any of his films. He also cleared up the air about the re-dubbing episode. Some time back stories had floated about how Abhay wanted to rework certain segments of the movie because he felt insecure after seeing Emraan's performance. Abhay now wants the makers of the film to come clean on their strategy for promotion and until then, he has made it clear that he won't be part of any campaign for 'Shanghai'.
