Ekta Kapoor's 'Rock the Shaadi' facing financial crunch
There has been much hullabaloo over Ekta Kapoor’s next production ‘Rock the Shaadi’ that was earlier named as ‘Shaadi of the dead’. The cazarina of Indian television Ekta Kapoor who recently been announced as one of the India’s top 10 businesswomen by the Forbes magazine seems to be a budget conscious as she has stopped her ongoing project ‘Rock the Shaadi’ because the expenses predefined for movie have been crossed the budget.
‘Rock the Shaadi’ is a rom-com project having Genelia D’Souza and Abhay Deol in lead roles, the flick was went to the floors with settled budget of about 9 crore. Director Navdeep Singh last shot for the film in November 2011 and managed to complete a little over 50 per cent of the film.
According to the film crew member, the film director side figured the expenses about 3.5 crore but sources close to the project zeroed down with claim that Rs 5 crore has already been spent since film’s last shot in November 2011.
“The director of the film has not been able to keep a check on the budget and Ekta is not pleased with the situation. The budget could have easily been maintained but obviously it did not happen,” the source added.
From the daily sources, Balaji Films honcho has called a board meeting a few days back and asked all of the members to reduce their expenses and the total cost of the film shouldn’t go beyond Rs 9 crore. Co-producer also agreed with Ekta’s decision.
The film also has an item number not from the lead actress but from the lead star Abhay who’s ready to hit the floor after the super success of his jig in ‘Senorita’. The film’s shooting would be resumed from April this year whereas Ekta Kapoor has yet not commented anything over this issue.
