Nishikant Kamat, who gave us the gritty and glorious Mumbai Meri Jaan based on the Mumbai train blasts, refuses to make another film on terrorism, at least for the moment. The filmmaker now wants to have fun with his art. Nishikant is scripting an out-and-out escapist entertainer with full-on masala and action-adventure and has roped in John Abraham to play the lead.

Nishikant confirms his plans. He says, Ive had my share of realism for now. My first film Dombivli Fast, its Tamil remake (Evano Oruvan featuring Madhavan) and Mumbai Meri Jaan, all went into the realistic and topical creative space. I now want to try my hand as an escapist entertainer. Its a challenge because its very difficult to do the incredible in a credible manner.

UTV will be producing the John Abraham film. While refusing to comment on the project with Nishikant, John feels there were four award-worthy performances in Mumbai Meri Jaan by male actors. Im talking about Paresh Rawal, K K Menon, Madhavan and Irrfan Khan. What performances, man! I hope to equal that level of acting in my work.

However, Nishikant will not be able to completely wash his hands off the realistic genre. He is committed to do a Hindi version of his well-acclaimed Dombivli Fast for producers Abbas-Mustan.
