Ash & Vivek...No way
If Ram Gopal Varma patches up with Vivek Oberoi for the two-part Rakta Charitra, does it mean that the actor is ready to share screenspace with
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan?
Ever since the news of RGV casting Vivek as Paritala Ravi made headlines, there were also reports of how Satish Kaushik managed a casting coup of sorts by getting Vivek, Ash and Abhishek to star in his Tansen. Unfortunately, Kaushik’s supposed coup is nothing beyond wishful thinking.
Vivek is now shooting in the United States for Rensil D’Silva’s Jihaad. When CT got in touch with his spokesperson from the company that manages his work, to confirm if such an offer had indeed come the actor’s way, he said, “Vivek has not yet been approached for this film.” And is he open to similar offers in future? “If he is approached in future, he will give his nod, depending entirely on how well the script suits him,” the spokesperson said.
Kaushik, too, rubbished speculations: “I don’t know how this piece of information is circulating in the media. There is no truth to it. No actor has been finalised. I’m still scripting Tansen.”
PK Gupta, the general manager of the production house, which is making Tansen, says, “We are still in the process of finalising the subject. We had spoken once to Abhishek. But we haven’t finalised anything with him yet. As for Ash and Vivek, we haven’t even approached them.”
Meanwhile, RGV is convinced that Vivek is the right choice for the difficult role of Paritala Ravi. “He has a
remarkable intensity in his eyes, which I noticed while making Company, a voice which commands attention, an arrogance in his demeanour, a sense of power in his stance and a certain vulnerability,” RGV said. Well, one hopes that Vivek is back in the right Company now.
