Trek features a cast of literally thousands, as countless wildebeest, zebra and antelope are joined by the hyena, leopard, jackal, cheetah and crocodile that prey on them.To personalise this story, remote cameras follow the fortunes of a baby wildebeest and a young zebra. Each has a very different story to tell. From their perspective, viewers experience all the significant events of the 3,000 kilometre year-long circular journey. This epic story combines natural humour with high-octane drama. But the bouldercams, dungcams and invisiblecams of past productions have grown into an army of over twenty mobile and remote cameras, giving saturation coverage.
    Episode 1: The Journey
The epic story of the greatest animal trek on earth. Dungcam and Bouldercam are joined by Croccam, Skullcam, Tortoisecam and other ‘spycams’ to film, up-close and personal, a wildebeest calf making this spectacular year-long journey. Over one million wildebeest and their young make the arduous 3,000-kilometre round trip across Tanzania’s Serengeti and Kenya’s Masai Mara. The calf is on the hit list of lions, cheetahs, hyenas and crocodiles and has to overcome some of nature’s most gruelling physical challenges. The calf encounters dust-storms, crosses a caustic soda lake and comes face to face with the biggest crocodiles in Africa. The spycams have adventures too - Tortoisecam meets a real tortoise and Dragonflycam comes to an untimely end. Three years in the making and distilled from 500 hours of recorded behaviour, the remote spycams capture the exciting action as the calf evades attacks from Africa’s most dangerous predators.

    Episode 2: The Crossing
The migration reaches Kenya’s Masai Mara where, for the calf, the river presents his greatest challenge yet. Croccam, Skullcam, Tortoisecam and Hippocam are just some of the spycams following the calf as he crosses the raging torrents. They film, up close and personal, as crocodiles pick-off stragglers, hippos become carnivorous and the river’s sheer walls become death-traps. Even if the calf survives he still has to face the highest concentration of land predators in Africa. As well as dramatic moments of extraordinary behaviour there is light relief as Bouldercam meets a playful pride of lions and hippos react to the animal invasion by releasing depth-charges made of dung.
