Harbhajan Singh-Geeta Basra to wed in 2012?
Cricketer Harbhajan Singh has apparently made up his mind to settle down with his long-time rumoured girlfriend, actress Geeta Basra. The spinner apparently has told a few select friends that he’s looking forward to announce his engagement soon.
Sources also say that both the respective families are now aware that Bhajji (as known among his close friends) will be settling down pretty soon with Geeta.
“They are thinking of marriage as Geeta is ready to settle down. Bhajji also feels that the time is right for the two to settle down as he’ll get no time during the peak season of cricket,” says a close friend of the cricketer. Sources say that the engagement will be early next year — around the same time as the wedding of Saif and Kareena and Riteish-Genelia.
Sources also say that Harbhajan and Geeta will get engaged first and then marry within six months of the engagement.
“Bhajji wants to have the engagement away from India where he will have a select group of people as guest. We hear that it might happen at London just after a cricketing assignment. Though Bhajji doesn’t have too many of his family members living in London, Geeta has an extended family living in the UK and particularly in London. For her, organising a roka (pre-engagement) ceremony in London,” the source says.
The few friends confirmed to fly down for his engagement are apparently his cricketer buddies Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Sachin Tendulkar tops the guest list, according to sources.
Sources also inform that the wedding venue and the date are yet to be decided, but people vouch that it would be Harbhajan’s hometown, which is Jalandhar in Punjab. However, the couple might decide to change the venue last minute, sources inform.
Apparently, Geeta was spotted recently shopping for some wedding finery in Old Delhi along with a few friends. Two of her closest friends (one of them is also an actor) is apparently helping her prepare her wardrobe for the D-Day....being a human...
