Mohsin Khan has been named Pakistan coach temporarily
Mohsin Khan, the chief selector of the Pakistan cricket team, has been appointed as the coach of the national team on Monday on a temporary basis for the home series against Sri Lanka bye the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Former test batsman, Ijaz Ahmed, will be his deputy.
The PCB has chosen him as the interim coach after being failed to find a replacement for Waqar Younis, who quit his coaching job due to personal reasons last month. He left the post soon after winning one-off test, three ODIs and two Twenty20s against Zimbabwe last month.
PCB in a media release said Mohsin Khan would be the coach for the Pakistan vs Sri Lanka series only. They are in the progress of appointing a full-time coach.
The former Test opener, Mohsin Khan, is very much confident about implanting self-belief in the Pakistan team that will face Sri Lanka after successfully whitewashing Zimbabwe in an away series last month.
Though batting is the major problem for Pakistan cricket team in recent times, Mohsin was confident that batsmen will play well against Sri Lanka.
The three-man committee headed by PCB development manager, Intikhab Alam, has been looking for a new coach. It is heard that the committee has shortlisted five names, but they did not agree to reveal the names.
